40 Things I Saw on the Deutsche Bahn.

40 Things I Saw on the Deutsche Bahn.

For a €14 ticket you can take the Bavarian regional train from Schweinfurt to Munich and see these things too.

  1. Windmills that disappear into the clouds.
  2. An altercation between impatient German women and an Italian because of the long bathroom line.
  3. Acres of allotment gardens.
  4. Hills hiding behind the heavy fog.
  5. A cart with drinks and snacks making its way down the train aisle.
  6. Aggressive pigeons in the train station.
  7. Grumpy German men.
  8. Vast fields with bright green grass.
  9. Two ponds making a figure eight with a delicate foot bridge in the middle.
  10. A forest of tall trees with mist hanging in the background.
  11. Snow on the ground.
  12. A German backing all the way down a parking lot lane like a boss.
  13. Lines of cars overflowing from a rural train stop parking lot.
  14. Full black windows during every tunnel we went through.
  15. My handsome husband (he doesn’t actually come with the ticket price, sorry).
  16. My sleeping bird.
  17. Different conductors as they each checked our ticket.
  18. Cars passing the train on nearby roads.
  19. A herd of sheep.
  20. Castle ruins.
  21. A double decker sleeper train.
  22. The autobahn.
  23. Fast trains that pass us in the blink of an eye.
  24. An Audi plant.
  25. Grey walls rising up on either side of the tracks.
  26. A great river.
  27. Bicycles jam packed together at each train stop.
  28. Yellow squares on the pavement telling smokers where to stand.
  29. Electrical outlets – hurrah!
  30. Crazy amounts of pigeons on the train lines.
  31. So much graffiti. Even on the train cars.
  32. Rows and rows of train tracks at the larger stations.
  33. A bike path right next to the train.
  34. Tall church steeples.
  35. Soccer fields. No surprise there.
  36. A tiny German flag on a tall flagpole.
  37. Strange farm equipment that I don’t know the purpose of.
  38. All the solar panels.
  39. Rain falling against the windows.
  40. The inside of my eyelids when I got motion sick.

I very rarely experience motion sickness but I did spend almost 3 hours watching the landscape go by in reverse (we got on the wrong side of the train).  It was also quite warm and I don’t think that helped.

It was unerringly quiet for most of our journey, which is what I’ve come to expect from Germany.  Well, except for the one Italian – he was loud.

  1. Hi there! I finally found time commenting here. I'm glad you liked your trip on the Deutsche Bahn. We (Germans) generally curse about it a lot, because it is late all the time (I think I have complained about this before? Not sure). And I saw that you found Germany quite quiet. If you visit Berlin, especially public transportation there, it might be more to your liking, maybe, because of all the street musicians and stuff. And more grumpy German people. 😉 Best regards from Potsdam, Sarah

    1. Hello Sarah!

Thanks for reading and commenting. We've taken the Bavarian Regional Deutsche Bahn many times and it hasn't been late – so I'm thankful! Perhaps because Germans value timeliness more than Americans they are are bothered by just being a few minutes late? I usually don't get upset until something is 10 minutes late. I look forward to seeing Berlin – and any city that has more of a nightlife than Schweinfurt. 🙂 The grumpy Germans are endearing in their own way (most of the time).

  2. Hello Web Admin, I noticed that your On-Page SEO is is missing a few factors, for one you do not use all three H tags in your post, also I notice that you are not using bold or italics properly in your SEO optimization. On-Page SEO means more now than ever since the new Google update: Panda. No longer are backlinks and simply pinging or sending out a RSS feed the key to getting Google PageRank or Alexa Rankings, You now NEED On-Page SEO. So what is good On-Page SEO?First your keyword must appear in the title. Then it must appear in the URL.You have to optimize your keyword and make sure that it has a nice keyword density of 3-5% in your article with relevant LSI (Latent Semantic Indexing). Then you should spread all H1,H2,H3 tags in your article.Your Keyword should appear in your first paragraph and in the last sentence of the page. You should have relevant usage of Bold and italics of your keyword. There should be one internal link to a page on your blog and you should have one image with an alt tag that has your keyword….wait there's even more Now what if i told you there was a simple WordPress plugin that does all the On-Page SEO, and automatically for you? That's right AUTOMATICALLY, just watch this 4minute video for more information at. Seo Plugin
