Busch Gardens Williamsburg is a beautiful, thrilling theme park located in – you guessed it – Williamsburg, Virginia. The park is so gorgeous that it’s been named the World’s Most Beautiful Theme Park by the National Amusement Park Historical Association every year since 1990! Surely this is because the park is channeling the charm and beauty of Europe through its nine villages, which represent six different European countries. You can take a photo in a typical red English phone booth, […]

Visiting PortAventura Theme Park in Tarragona, Spain.
PortAventura World is an entertainment resort located along the eastern coast of Spain next to the Balearic Sea. In fact, you can see the blue water from many rides. The resort is comprised of five hotels, two golf courses, and three parks: PortAventura Caribe Aquatic Park, Ferrari Land (opening April 2017), and PortAventura Park (which we visited). The colossal PortAventura Park has six themed areas within, and each is inundated with warm Spanish culture. It is certainly one of Europe’s most […]
A Day at Kolmården Wildlife Park in Sweden.
Kolmården Wildlife Park is a large zoo in Sweden that opened an incredible wooden roller coaster last year. Paradoxically, the park boasts 370 acres of property, 600 animals from all over the world, and now three roller coasters. It’s an unusual combination, but one that we enjoyed greatly. Over 50 years old, Kolmården is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Scandinavia. It’s located south of Stockholm near Norrköping and is home to the first Scandinavian dolphinarium, the worlds […]
Visiting Busch Gardens Tampa Bay: A Review + Tips.
This was a pretty special trip for us. Mr. Meena’s grandparents live near Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, and he’s visited the park several times on family vacations over the years. We’ve driven past the park each time we were in the area (so that he could gaze fondly upon the coasters) and hoped that we’d soon be back and have time to visit this park together. So after about three years of wishing for this trip (and also almost three […]
Visiting the Wurstelprater Amusement Park in Vienna, Austria.
The Wurstelprater amusement park is located in Wiener Prater, a large public park in Vienna (Wien), Austria. While there is a lot to see and do in the massive park, Wurstelprater is special because it is the oldest amusement park in the world. Publicly opened in 1766, it currently features the iconic Wiener Riesenrad (a Ferris wheel), 13 roller coasters, a Madame Tussauds, and plenty of other fun attractions. Prater is open 24/7 year round and some venues, such […]
The Schweinfurt Volksfest and About Our Next Coaster Trip.
I’m not going to pretend like Schweinfurt’s Volksfest was impressive, because it wasn’t. At least not after we’d already been to the larger ones in Würzburg and Nürnberg. I was also a bit upset when I realized the people running the Schweinfurt Facebook page were using photos of the Volksfest from the previous year (without stating that they were doing so), which led me to believe there were different rides available than there actually were. But it’s not every day […]
How Holiday Park (Germany) Is Different from American Theme Parks.
We recently visited Holiday Park and were pleasantly surprised throughout the day as we encountered a more relaxed atmosphere than we expected. This park really challenged our primarily American based experience of theme parks. I’m even more excited now to visit more parks in Europe. Here are the 13 things that really stood out to us: You don’t pass through a special parking toll gate when you arrive. Instead, you just pay when you get your ticket and then give […]
Photos of Holiday Park, Germany.
You can read about our trip to Holiday Park here or about how the German park is different from US parks here. But if you just want photos of Holiday Park, than this is the post for you. This is a piece of track from Super Wirbel, which was the very first inverting roller coaster in Germany. This is the Lighthouse Tower, which is located next to the lake to provide fantastic views. It’s also “the highest flying merry-go-round of Germany and […]
Visiting Holiday Park in Haßloch, Germany.
Recently Mr. Meena and I visited Holiday Park in Haßloch, Germany. It’s nearly three hours away from where we live and it was a very appropriate trip since we were celebrating Mr. Meena’s 25th birthday (in case you don’t know, he is a roller coaster fanatic in every sense of the word). We had something really special happen during this trip (which I’ll share below)! I’m going to talk about the coasters at the park, their waterpark show, the kiddy section, and […]
