Today my second baby boy turns one year old. His birth was so similar to my first son that it seemed fitting to share his birth story on his birthday in the same way I did with my first. There were so many similarities between the two births that I can’t help but compare them. I’ve been struggling with writing this story because it’s hard for me to think about it for long periods of time, as was the case […]

My Third Trimester: Hobbling Along and Delivering Early.
My third trimester started off a bit stressful. At 28 weeks, I failed my one-hour gestational diabetes test. I was stressed about possibly having yet another health complication during pregnancy. I then had to endure a three-hour-long glucose test which I passed, thank goodness! But the stress of my third trimester was only getting started; I have a lot to share with you about what happened over those nine weeks! Yep, if you’re counting along that means my son was […]
My Second Trimester: I’m Not Having a Good Time!
My second trimester was hard at the beginning and the end, but I had a few sweet days somewhere in the middle. There weren’t nearly as many good days compared to the honeymoon phase of my first pregnancy. Like many other moms, I’ve found my second pregnancy to be harder overall. Related: The First Trimester With My Second Baby. It’s been tougher because of more severe and frequent pregnancy symptoms on top of taking care of a toddler while pregnant. […]
The First Trimester With My Second Baby.
We’re expecting a second little Meena in June 2021! This first trimester has been quite different compared to my previous pregnancy – and not just because I’m taking care of a two-year-old while pregnant. My medical care has gone a bit differently and I’ve had more varied and intense symptoms. Thankfully, my lupus hasn’t been as intense – so far – and I have a lot of help. In this post, I’m going to detail what it’s been like to […]
Birth and Lupus: Baby Meena’s Birth Story.
Today Baby Meena is one year old. Yes, it has taken me a year to finish writing his birth story. I wrote down many details in the first two weeks, intending to get the story out much sooner, but I was somewhat traumatized from giving birth and had to stop reliving it in my mind for a while. Life was also really hard with a newborn as a parent with lupus. I have struggled mightily in all areas of my life […]
Lupus and Pregnancy in the Third Trimester.
The third trimester of my pregnancy didn’t have nearly as many sweet spots as the second trimester, unfortunately. It turned out to be quite difficult. Of course, lupus and pregnancy mixed together is never going to be easy. I was able to cope fairly well with most of the issues I encountered until the last two weeks – at that point I was just outright miserable. In this post I’ll be sharing about my medical care, lupus symptoms, and pregnancy symptoms. In […]
The Second Trimester of Being Pregnant with Lupus.
It turned out to be true for me that the second trimester was the sweet spot of pregnancy. A lot of my first trimester symptoms faded or disappeared entirely and I didn’t experience many new or intense pregnancy woes until the second trimester was nearing its end. Being pregnant with lupus meant that it wasn’t completely smooth sailing, of course. I had more doctor’s appointments, medications, and potential complications compared to the average pregnant woman, and I’ll share them all here along […]
My Lupus Pregnancy: The First Trimester.
I’m so excited to share the news of my lupus pregnancy! I have to admit that I really didn’t expect the word ‘pregnancy’ to enter into my personal vocabulary in 2017. It has been a whirlwind of prenatal education, doctors’ appointments, and brand new experiences over the past few months. In this post, I’m going to share my first trimester lupus pregnancy journey with you partially because it’s a great way for me to document it but also because having lupus […]
